Assistant Cafe Manager
The Assistant Cafe Manager role is an integral representative of Valentine Coffee Roasters (VCR) whose responsibilities include supporting the Cafe Manager in implementing company policies, communicating observations, troubleshooting daily obstacles, and leading teams in providing superior customer service.
Building/Maintaining Relationships Use knowledge of company products and services to connect with customers and staff to generate sales and create a unique cafe experience. Perform all duties with a “service-first” hospitality mindset of kindness, respect, and assistance. Act as an ambassador for Valentine Coffee Roasters both on and off the clock.
Cafe Arrive ready to work at time scheduled (personal items/drinks and bathroom taken care of before clock-in). Proactively learn about products and professionally relay information to customers. Craft beverages of both the caffeinated and alcoholic varieties. Follow all in-house procedures, guidelines, and parameters. Change kegs of cold brew and nitrogen tanks. Assemble and cook food to customer’s specifications and company guidelines. Follow all food and safety regulations. Work with a sense of urgency to ensure minimal wait times for customers.
Management Effectively incorporate, model, and coach staff on all company policies. Reinforce and model company training team has learned on procedures, practices, and appropriate customer interactions. Own the cleanliness and presentation of the cafe, delegating tasks as needed. Proficiently work and manage all stations. Obtain all Cafe appropriate certifications and licenses. Maintain cafe drawer counts and safe balances. Handle payment processing including counting down deposits and balancing drawers. Assist Cafe Manager in tasks of inventory, placing orders, and restocking inventory. Support Cafe Manager in ensuring the cafe is properly staffed. Handle customer inquiries and complaints in an appropriate manner aligning with VCR policies.
Required
Education attainment equivalent to a high school diploma. Excellent communication skills to communicate with colleagues, customers, and vendors. Ability to use a personal computer, word processing, and spreadsheets. Knowledge of and the ability to use a variety of POS systems and standard office equipment such as a 10-key calculator, telephone, scanner, and printer. Ability to be aware of and ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations related to Cafe operations. Flexible scheduling. Ability to stand throughout the entire shift is required. Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
Preferred
At least six months of proven experience in hospitality. It is desirable for the incumbent to have extensive knowledge and experience with VCR. It is highly desirable for the incumbent to be willing to work across company locations if necessary. Ability to safely and lawfully run necessary errands for the Cafe (ex: bank).
